Why order this 2 oz. Great Britain Silver Queen's Beast Lion This Great Britain 2 oz. 2016 Silver Lion starts the Royal Mint's ten coin Queen's Beast Series. It is also the first ever 2 oz. silver bullion coin ever issued by the Mint. Struck from .9999 fine silver, this piece comes from the first year in which the obverse of British coins has been updated since 1998. Iconic British Designs by Jody Clark Queen Elizabeth II's updated portrait depicts her in right-side portrait wearing her crown. Her curly hair partly covers her ear. Inscriptions encircle the image, providing the face value, "5 POUNDS," and the Queen's name and title, "ELIZABETH II D.G. REG F.D." (a Latin abbreviation of "Elizabeth II, by the grace of God, Queen, Defender of the Faith"). Jody Clark's reverse features a lion standing on its hind legs. It has a crown atop its head and is shown letting out a powerful roar. At the bottom is the United Kingdom's royal coat of arms, which bears two quadrants with symbols of England, one representing Ireland, and another representing Scotland. Inscriptions along the rim include, "LION OF ENGLAND," information about the metal content of the coin, "2 OZ FINE SILVER 9999," and the year of issue, "2016."
