About Ohaus AV313 Adventurer Pro Analytical Balance, 310g

The Ohaus AV313 Adventurer Pro analytical balance has a capacity of 310g and an accuracy of 0.001g (also called readability). The high-contrast, backlit LCD shows results on two lines for simultaneous viewing of weight results and application-specific information, as well as basic on-screen prompts for setting up and using the balance. The external, digital calibration system ensures accurate measurements and requires a 200g calibration mass (sold separately). The balance has a frameless square draft shield, with sliding glass panels, that provides unobstructed access to the weighing chamber and helps reduce spills when navigating tight spaces. The draft shield is easy to disassemble, and the glass panels are dishwasher-safe and autoclaveable. The rear-facing RS232 port is positioned for easy connection to a printer or computer, enabling work in compliance with GLP (Good Laboratory Practices) and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) traceability requirements. The balance weighs in 16 international weighing units and one user-defined custom unit, and tares over the entire weighing range. Application modes include animal weighing, parts counting, percent weighing, check weighing, totalization, and display hold for oversized samples, and the built-in, below-balance weighing hook suspends samples beneath the balance for measuring gravity and density. Three selectable settings adjust the sensitivity of the balance to compensate for excessive vibration, airflow, and other environmental disturbances. The base of the balance has four adjustable feet to ensure weighing stability and an indicator on the front provides quick confirmation that the balance is level prior to use. An integrated security slot for locks and cables protects the balance from unauthorized use or theft. The ABS plastic and die-cast metal housing protects the internal weighing cell from environmental influences and impact. The stainless steel weighing pan resists corrosion from spills of most sample materials, and a replaceable in-use cover protects the display and keypad against damage from spills. The balance is manufactured to ISO 9001:2000 standards, and when used according to manufacturer’s recommendations, is covered by a two-year warranty against defects in workmanship or materials. Balances are measuring instruments used to determine the mass of an object, while scales are used to measure the weight of an object. The measurement results from balances are generally considered to be more precise compared to results from scales. Mechanical balances are the simplest type of balance, and use a lever and slide to indicate the measurement. Conventional balances are commonly used in offices, the jewelry industry, and in kitchens, and display results digitally, but are less precise than analytical balances. Analytical balances measure to a high degree of precision and accuracy (0.0001g or better), and display results digitally. These balances have a cover with doors to prevent dust and airflow from affecting the measurement. Moisture balances analyze moisture content in a material sample, using infrared or halogen heat sources to dry the sample and then calculate the moisture content from the before- and after-drying weight, and display results digitally, on the balance, or transfer the information for display on a computer. Ohaus manufactures scales and balances for laboratory, educational, retail, food, and jewelry applications. The company, which was founded in 1914, is headquartered in Parsippany, NJ.
