Butterfly valves operateâ similarlyâ to a ball valve, which allows for a quick shut off. The rotating disk is positioned in the center of the valve, and turns either parallel or perpendicular to the flow passing through it. When the valve is closed, the rotatingpletely blocks off the passageway of the valve. With the valve fully open, the disk rotates a quarter turn to allow an almost unrestricted flow. Unlike a ball valve, the rotating disk is always present within the flow of the valve, so there is always a slight pressure drop regardless of valve position. These butterfly valves are manufactured out of 304 food grade stainless steel, and meet all ofâ today'sâ sanitaryâ standardsâ for sanitary fittings.
