This cast iron Milwaukee Valve CW223E series wafer-style butterfly valve has ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM) seats and seals, an aluminum-bronze disc, a lever handle, and flanged connections. Made of cast iron for higher corrosion resistance than steel, this wafer-style valve fits between two pipe flanges and is designed to retain a seal against two-way pressure to prevent backflow in single-direction systems. It has EPDM seats and seals to provide increased water and chemical resistance, and the ductile-iron lever handle provides manual flow control. The disc is made of aluminum bronze, which has better corrosion resistance than stainless steel. The maximum pressure is 200 pounds per square inch (psi) for use with water, oil, and gas (WOG), and the working temperature range is -30 to 250 degrees F. This valve has flanged connections for bolting to pipes for greater ease in installation and maintenance than welded connections. It meets Manufacturers Standardization Society (MSS) SP-67 and American Petroleum Institute (API) 609 standards for quality assurance, and the United States Coast Guard approves it for use in Category A service. This butterfly valve is for use in applications including agricultural and turf irrigation, food and beverage industry, pulp and paper industry, oil and gas systems, chemical plants, wastewater treatment, and water distribution. Butterfly valves are used to regulate flow between pipes, tubes, and hoses by rotating a lens-shaped disc in the center of the valve and are suited for high-capacity, low-pressure applications. When the valve is fully opened, the disc face is parallel to the inlet and outlet of the valve, and when the valve is closed, the disc face is perpendicular to the opening of the valve.
