SEASONAL MATCHA RELEASE: Chazoku’s Single Cultivar Gokou is carefully hand picked in small batches during the first spring harvest from a private farm in Wazuka, Kyoto. This historic town, in the heart of Japan’s Uji region, is world-renowned for premium matcha, with production strictly limited to select suppliers.
RICH, CREAMY AND NUTTY: Our single-cultivar Gokou is prized for its deep umami and natural sweetness, unfolding with notes of toasted walnut and a smooth, velvety almond finish that lingers on the palate. A rare matcha with richness you can taste from the very first sip — perfect for usucha (thin tea) and signature lattes.
CRAFTSMANSHIP PERFECTED OVER CENTURIES: Honoring centuries-old cultivation traditions, Chazoku’s Gokou is shade-grown using the Ōishita Saibai method, where straw and reed coverings enhance umami and sweetness while eliminating bitterness and grassiness. Unlike mass-produced matcha, the leaves are then stone-milled on granite wheels, creating a silky texture while preserving the distinct vibrant emerald green color that defines true ceremonial grade matcha.
RESPONSIBLY SOURCED: FARMER DIRECT: Chazoku partners with small family farms in Wazuka, Kyoto, honoring centuries-old cultivation methods. Sustainably grown and stone-milled, every package supports generational tea farmers.
