A coating of polyurethane is used on the playfield to give it some sheen and added protection. There are metal stabilizer bars holding the playfield true to level. The stabilizers reduce the chance of the playfield to concave or convex. The shuffleboard table comes with leg levelers and locking nuts to allow for precision leveling.
