The Avalon 9” Drop Extension Kits are used to extend the 49 ½” Starter Kit to the desired length. The 1-piece Extension Kit does not need a bracket, but the 2-piece Extension Kit includes 1 bracket, which should be the same size as ordered with the Starter Kit. To determine the length of the Avalon Cornice, measure the inside of your opening and add 1-4" on each side - this is called the overlap. If your opening has molding around it, measure the outside of the molding on the left side of your opening to the outside of the molding on the right side of the opening and add 1". But, if you have a curtain rod or vertical blind rail that your cornice will be covering, measure the length of the rail and add 1". Pick the longest measurement from above that applies to your opening, and this will be the cornice length, and does not include the thickness of the End Caps. The outside length of your Avalon Cornice is the inside measurement PLUS the thickness of the 2 end caps. To determine what extension pieces to order, subtract 49½” from the cornice length which leaves you with the measurement to be made up of extensions. Now take that length and divide by 33” (the length of a 2-piece Extension Kit). The number to the left of the decimal point is the number of 2-piece Extension Kits to order. If the number on the right side is 5 or less, you’ll need to order a 1-piece Extension Kit. If the number on the right side is greater than 5, you’ll need to order 1 more 2-piece extension Kit. Example 1: Cornice length (without End Caps) is 87½”. 87½” - 49½” = 38” 38” / 33” = 1.151 Order 1 2-piece Extension Kit and 1 1-piece Extension Kit Example 2: Cornice length (without End Caps) is 104”. 104 - 49.5” = 54.5” 54.5” / 33“ = 1.65 Order 2 2-Piece Extension Kits.
