For years, people have asked me to write a book of hymns to add to my series of World of Harmony Music books. I asked hymn lovers around the world for a list of their favorites and narrowed the list down to 14 hymns which not only sound beautiful on the zither, but also have really interesting stories behind the music. Can you answer these questions? You'll be able to after reading this book! Which hymn was reportedly played by musicians aboard the sinking Titanic? Which hymn is a doxology, and what IS a doxology? Which hymn has only six words which use more than one syllable? Which hymn combines the efforts of at least five people who lived centuries apart? In this, the eighth book in the World of Harmony Music series, you'll find a beautiful collection of music written for the beginner as well as those who are ready to play more complex arrangements. You can choose to play just the familiar melody, or you can add optional harmony notes for a more beautiful sound. I'll even help you learn to play them! I have video recorded myself playing each hymn so that you can watch me and more easily learn to play each one. Simply do a web search for the hymn you're learning, plus Debbie Center zither. For example, "Amazing Grace Debbie Center zither". My video will come right up and we can play the hymn together! For Music Maker, Small World Toys, T.K. O'Brien's, Appalachian Spirit Folk Instruments, and Melody Harp zithers or lap harps. (For Melody Harps, tune F strings to F sharp. Not recommended for First Act or Happy Hape, as those are smaller instruments.)
