About Journey To Centennial 2016 Year In Review

This has been a year of incredible accomplishments that are attributed to the astounding power of sisters uniting for a singular cause…. To travel on The Journey to Centennial! Of particular note, we hit the $1 million dollar mark in revenue generated for the Centennial. As a self-funded commission, we started with zero dollars and have been dependent upon the 2020 Visionary Campaign and special projects to raise the operational funds to embark upon the Journey. We set up our financial procedures with the oversight of our accounting firm and our legal counsel. This hard work has positioned the accountability of every penny that is donated to the Centennial cause. Our first major donation of $125,000 was enabled by the early adopters of the 2020 Visionary Campaign. On September 24, 2016 when the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture opened in Washington, DC, Zeta’s name will be forever inscribed on the donor wall because of the Visionary members of the sisterhood who knew the importance of having the funds in hand to participate in this time-sensitive endeavor. The shared vision that this major contribution embodies provides tremendous hope for the realization of an incredible set of footprints that are being made on earth in honor of the Founders of Zeta. Boule 2016 provided the opportunity to visibly demonstrate the abundant support that the Centennial Commission has assembled to lend expertise and dedicated commitment to the goals and objectives established by the Commission. The Centennial Room was a constant source of energy and enthusiasm whether a Soror was live streaming, becoming a 2020 Visionary, purchasing a Cetennnial keepsake, joining a sisterhood circle, having embracing a sister. It was Centennial Central for the week. The Centennial workshops were interactive and fun while providing education and insight on the topics of sisterhood circles, legacies, history and “all things Centennial”! The inaugural golf tournament with Dr. Catana Starks as the “celebrity guest” was quite an adventure. The Blue and White family was treated to an afternoon that will be long remembered. With over 100 participants, it was another visionary endeavor that was successfully executed. 2016 was the year of Scholarship. It was the year to reFINE those things that through knowledge and education we can continue to envision dreams while shifting dreams to reality. The reFINERy has exemplified the concept of building as we climb. The reFINERy is a repository of tips and pointers to help us on our Journey. The Author and Entrepreneur components will lead to our economic sharing of resources and provide an outlet for innovation and creativity. The reFINE your FINER Luncheon was the epitome of “finer dining” while enjoying the camaraderie of sisters. The undergraduates of the state of Florida were the epitome of Zeta’s future of accomplished women as they claimed careers that will position their future success. This annual report encompasses a year of scholarship. It attempts to commemorate a year of outstanding endeavors by sisters across the globe as we continue our Journey to Centennial. THANK YOU to everyone who has embraced this moment of history… our second of five years of leaving footprints in the sand of time that will be forever captured in this report… 2016: The Year In Review!
