From the Author This book covers the latest version of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (version 7) released in 2014. It addresses four major learning objectives: 1) a self-study exam preparation guide, 2) an in-class training manual, 3) an on-the-job reference, and 4) an easy-to-understand guide for novice and non-Linux administrators. This book is divided into two sections -- RHCSA and RHCE -- based on the exam and learning objectives. The RHCSA section covers tasks that are intended for implementation on a single system, while the RHCE section covers those that require two or more networked systems. The book has twenty-five chapters in total and are organized keeping in view the four learning objectives mentioned above. The RHCSA and RHCE certification exams are hands-on exams presented in electronic format on a live desktop computer running Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 with one (RHCSA) or two (RHCE) virtual machines. The exam objectives are covered in sufficient detail in the chapters throughout the book. I have attempted to explain the concepts in an easy-to-understand manner supported by step-by-step instructions on how to perform tasks and implement services. I have included numerous exercises, which I actually ran on test systems. My emphasis has been more on the practical aspect to align with the nature of the Red Hat exams as well as the other learning objectives. I have provided requirements in the first chapter to help build a lab for practicing the exercises, challenge labs, and sample exams while studying the book. This book has: No. of Exercises: 115+ No. of Review Questions / Answers: 500+ No. of Do-It-Yourself (DIY) Challenge Labs: 70+ No. of Sample RHCSA Exams: 2 No. of Sample RHCE Exams: 2 I hope this book will prove to be an invaluable resource for your exam preparation as well as learning RHEL 7. Good luck on the road to achieving the RHCE certification.... About the Author Asghar Ghori is a seasoned Linux/Cloud/DevOps consultant, trainer, and author.
