About Thermo Scientific Orion Star A215 PH/Conductivity

The Thermo Scientific Orion Star A215 benchtop meter with kit displays pH and conductivity readings plus temperature on the large, backlit LCD display for pharmacology laboratory applications. The meter can display temperature with pH/mV/RmV on the first channel, or conductivity/TDS/salinity/resistivity on the second channel, or show all results at once. Electrode status, time, date, sample ID, user ID, and calibration points are also displayed with the measurements. The meter is designed for ease of use and reduced training requirements, with clear screen prompts, updateable soft keys, and an interface that supports English, Spanish, French, Italian, German, and Chinese. A pre-programmed auto-read function is available to lock stable readings on the screen, with an indicator alert that signals when the reading is stable. The meter can also be set for timed readings that gather data at specific time intervals. Non-volatile memory holds up to 2,000 data points with time and date stamp. Updates for meter software and complimentary data analysis software are available for download. The selectable cell constant allows use with two- or four-cell conductivity cells. Practical salinity or natural sea water curves can be selected for salinity readings. Linear or ISO/EN 27888 curves can be selected for total dissolved solids (TDS) readings. pH calibration is available up to five points, with automatic recognition for USA/NIST and DIN (Deutsches Institut für Normung) buffers. Conductivity calibration has selectable reading reference temperatures of 5, 10, 15, 20 or 25 degrees C with linear, non-linear, nLFu, or EP curve options. Errors can be fixed without a complete recalibration by using the calibration editing function. The meter has an IP 54 rating for limited ingress of dust and protection against water splashes. The device can be wall-mounted if table space is an issue. The electrode arm (included) can be attached to either side of the instrument. Meter input ports include Bayonet Neill-Concelman (BNC), reference pin, 8-Pin Mini-DIN, and stirrer port. Output ports include RS-232 and USB. The kit contains a pH/ATC electrode, conductivity cell, stainless steel probe for Automatic Temperature Compensation (ATC), stirrer probe and paddle, electrode arm with holder, conductivity standard, pH electrode storage bottle, pH buffer solutions, storage solution, and cleaning solution. Certifications for this meter include CE, TÜV, and FCC Class A limits. It measures parameters such as the pH level (acidity or alkalinity of a substance), conductivity (the amount of salts or other compounds present in water), dissolved oxygen (DO, the amount of oxygen in a liquid), temperature, total dissolved solids (TDS, anything present in water other than the pure water molecule and suspended solids), salinity, resistivity, and oxidation reduction potential (ORP). Applications for multiparameter meters include water testing, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, winemaking, water-treatment plants, and acquaculture. Devices with a benchtop body are often used for indoor laboratory use or
