Aquatic Arts - CPO Crayfish Features

  • CPO Dwarf Crayfish (aka miniature crawdads) are an eye-catching fiery orange that adds a burst of color to any tank! The coloration of our crayfish is MUCH higher quality than others for sale!

  • These are very active and do not hide during light hours like most crayfish. They are fully aquatic and do not need land, so they can be kept in an aquarium instead of a terrarium.

  • They do well in most community tanks, though they occasionally have been known to eat dwarf shrimp. A Betta may try to attack dwarf crayfish, so we can’t recommend them as tankmates.

  • This crayfish very small sized, reaching a maximum size of 1.6 inches (4 cm). This makes it a prime candidate for small or nano aquariums, such as 5 to 10 gallon tanks.

  • This listing is for 1 breeding pair, so each kit includes 1 male and 1 female crayfish. All Aquatic Arts brand plants and animals come with 100% live arrival guarantee and free email support!

About Aquatic Arts - CPO Crayfish

The CPO Dwarf Mexican Crayfish features a beautiful, eye-catching fiery orange coloration that will add a burst of color to any aquarium! They are one of the most brightly colored varieties of invertebrates we offer, and their large size draws the eye right to them. Additionally, they are easy to care for, and their feeding requirements are simple - they feed on leftover food or almost any kind of fish food. They will also eat high protein sinking pellets, veggies or plants, and freeze-dried or frozen foods. Cuttlebone can be added to the aquarium to supplement calcium and will aid in exoskeleton production. Dwarf crayfish are among our favorite invertebrates here at Aquatic Arts and an excellent choice for the nano or micro aquarium. They are larger than dwarf shrimp (they can grow up to 1.6 inches long) and tend to live much longer, but are still small enough to live in a tank as small as 5 gallons. If you plan on attempting to breed your pair of crayfish, pay close attention to your tank parameters with the use of tools like a TDS meter and pH increaser or decreaser. Though this crayfish is small enough not to be a threat to most other tank inhabitants, they have on occasion gone after dwarf shrimp (such as Tiger Shrimp, etc.), so we can not guarantee safety for dwarf shrimp when raising them in the same tank. Most cichlids and goldfish are aggressive toward crayfish, and bottom feeders should also be avoided. Thus, dwarf crayfish can only be kept in some community tanks with snails (like Olive Jade Mystery Nerites, etc.) and fast moving fish (e.g. Harlequin Rasboras, Tiger Barbs, etc.) CARE GUIDELINES: - Temperature: 60 - 75° F (16 - 24° C) - pH: 6.0 – 8.0 - KH: 6 - 12 dKH - Minimum tank size: 5 gallons - Average adult size: 1.2 - 1.6 inches (3 - 4.1 cm) - Average purchase size: 1/2 - 1.5 inches (2.5 - 3.8 cm)
