Aquatic Arts 3 Live Cajun Dwarf Crayfish | Live Features

  • Cajun Dwarf Crayfish (also known as mini freshwater lobsters) have a unique tan and black coloration with green mottling. They look stunning against tank plants or a colorful aquarium backdrop!

  • They are very active and do not hide during the day like most crayfish. However, they still thrive best in an aquarium with plant life or an aquarium decoration that provides cover.

  • They do well in most community tanks, though they occasionally have been known to eat dwarf shrimp. We keep them with aquarium snails and live plants, and they never bother any of their tank mates.

  • Easy to care for as these mini freshwater crayfish are fully aquatic and feed on leftover food, and their diet can be supplemented with algae tablets and invertebrate food or fish food.

  • This listing is for 3 unsexed young adult crayfish. All Aquatic Arts brand plants and animals come with a 100% alive arrival guarantee, plus free email support!

About Aquatic Arts 3 Live Cajun Dwarf Crayfish | Live

The Cajun Dwarf Crayfish (Cambarellus shufeldtii) is a miniature freshwater crayfish with an outgoing personality and unique tan and black coloration, often along with green mottling. They look great with all kinds of crazy aquarium decorations! Dwarf crayfish are also known as mini lobsters, although true lobsters do not exist in freshwater. The Cajun Dwarf Crayfish is very similar to the Orange CPO Crayfish in appearance and behavior, aside from the obvious difference in color. Additionally, they are easy to care for, and feeding is simple - they feed on leftover food or almost any kind of fish food. Dwarf crayfish like this one are among our favorite inverts here at Aquatic Arts and an excellent choice for a small aquarium or desk aquarium. They are larger than dwarf shrimp and tend to live much longer, but are small enough to comfortably live in an aquarium as small as a 5 gallon tank. They are very active and don’t typically hide during the day like most larger crayfish. Basic aquarium supplies required, including an aquarium filter (e.g. micron filter, tidal filter, etc.). Though this crayfish is small enough not to be a threat to most other tank inhabitants, they have on occasion gone after dwarf shrimp (such as Cardinal Shrimp and Tangerine Shrimp), so we cannot guarantee safety for dwarf shrimp when raising them in the same tank. Most cichlids and goldfish are aggressive toward crayfish, and bottom feeders should also be avoided. They generally can be kept with freshwater snails, fast moving fish (like guppies, rasboras, danios, mollies, platies, etc.), and large shrimp (like Bamboo Shrimp, aka Flower shrimp or Ayatopsis). AQUARIUM CARE GUIDE: - Temperature: 60 - 82.4° F (16 - 28° C) - pH: 6.0 - 8.0 - KH: 6 - 12 dKH - Minimum tank size: 5 gallons - Average adult size: 1.6 inches (4 cm) - Average purchase size: 1/2 - 1 inch (1.3 - 2.5 cm) - WARNING: Copper is toxic to invertebrates.
