With expert text from Brent Elliott, a historian at the Royal Horticultural Society, The Rose introduces the most popular species and hybrids, explores the layout of rose gardens through the years, delves into the myths surrounding the flower, and examines roses in the language of love. He is the author of Victorian Gardens (Weidenfeld & Nicolson), Treasures of the Royal Horticultural Society (Timber Press), The Country House Garden (Firefly Books), Flora: an Illustrated History of the Garden Flower (Antique Collector’s Club Ltd.), The Royal Horticultural Society: A History 1804–2004 (Phillimore & Co, Ltd.), and most recently, RHS Chelsea Flower Show: a Centenary Celebration (Frances Lincoln).
