Definitive Technologies overcame this challenge with the ProCinema series by engineering pressure-coupled medite passive radiators into the satellites and center channel speakers (the radiators are upward firing in the sats and side firing in the centers). These radiators dramatically improve the low frequency response while also delivering better linearity, improved transient response, and lower distortion. In addition, Definitive outfitted the speakers with BDSS technology, a patent-pending driver technology that couples a unique balanced double surround system--at both the apex and outer edge of the cone--with a precisely engineered central waveguide. BDSS produces a smoother response, greatly improved dynamic range, and dynamic stability, all essentials for elite home theater performance. Sonically, the ProCinema speakers are a revelation in terms of producing incredible sound at an affordable price.
