About Mitutoyo 506-207 Vernier Height Gauge, 0-200mm

The Mitutoyo 506-207 lightweight vernier height gauge has a measurement range of 0 to 200 mm, is precise to 0.02 mm, with + or - 0.03 mm of accuracy, and is suitable for scribing from a vertical base or for measuring small objects. The vernier scale provides precise, fine measurement through a second sliding scale that indicates where measurement lies between marks on the main scale. A calibrated screw mechanism supports fine, uniform slider adjustments. The included scriber, used to mark a position on a workpiece, is 47 mm long, carbide-tipped for hardness and long life, and is held to the gauge by a screw clamp for easy and secure fastening. The grip-base design provides comfort when holding the unit in position by hand. The slider and beam are made of stainless steel. Large, easily-viewed figures and a glare-free satin chrome finish that resists rust ensure error-free reading. The mass (weight) of the height gauge is 1.4 kg. Height gauges, sometimes referred to as gages, are precision measuring instruments that travel on a vertical column (also called the beam) to measure and/or mark the vertical distance from the base of an object in fine units. The vertical position of the gauge and its attached pointer are changed by turning a calibrated screw, or one or more feed wheels. Recorded rotations are read from a scale, a dial, counters, and/or an electronic display. A screw clamp holds the pointer to the gauge. The pointer is typically sharpened to act as a scriber, and can be used to mark a position on a workpiece by scratching its surface. On compatible units, the scriber may be replaced by an electronic touch-signal probe. Height gauges are typically used in manufacturing, machining, and mechanical engineering. Mitutoyo manufactures precision measuring tools, metrology equipment, and systems. The company was founded in Tokyo in 1934 and formed Mitutoyo America Corporation in 1963, which is headquartered in Aurora, IL.
