About Onitsuka Tiger Women's Badminton

Product Description Onitsuka tiger, the forerunner of the lifestyle brand within asics, is paying homage to its heritage by partnering with japanese Fabric brand, makumo. Like onitsuka tiger, makumo is inspired by traditional japanese culture and focuses on ensuring quality through craftsmanship. Makumo is owned and mostly operated out of the home of Fabric designer, miki fukuyama and her husband, chef tomo araki. Fukuyama designs and araki hand prints all of their Fabrics within their atelier by the sea, implementing her incredibly exclusive prints onto the finest japanese loomed canvas from kurashiki. Given its exclusivity, the partnership between onitsuka tiger and makumo is a first of it’s kind, as makumo’s Fabrics have never been printed on shoes and onitsuka tiger has never adapted home made Fabrics onto their products. Every makumo Fabric design has a story. With the idea in mind that the power of fermentation is inspiring and transformational, each may style is dressed in a pattern resembling natto, a traditional fermented bean. As part of the collection, the onitsuka tiger x makumo collection features the tora, the japanese word for tiger, on the badminton 68 model. The tora Fabric was manufactured (but still hand printed) at bamba dye house in kyoto, japan. The dye house has a rich history spanning over 100 years. From the Manufacturer Since 1949, Onitsuka Tiger has created stylish sports products inspired by the Japanese values of craftsmanship and attention to detail. Through their crafts, Onitsuka Tiger brings together East and West, and demonstrates what it means to be "Made of Japan."
