THE EARLY YEARS: DAWN OF DARKNESS is a compilation of the first two albums; SATANIC SLAUGHTER (1995) and LAND OF THE UNHOLY SOULS (1996) from Swedish Black/Thrash Metal band Satanic Slaughter a band that spawned off the Black Metal band Witchery. This compilation CD was issued in 2001 by Necropolis Records and has been mislabeled as a Witchery release in order to capitalize on their success but the reality is Satanic Slaughter was still an active band at the time issuing a third album AFTERLIFE KINGDOM (2000) right before this compilation and issuing a fourth album BANISHED TO THE UNDERWORLD (2002) after that. Tracks 1-12 originally on "Satanic Slaughter." Tracks 13-25 originally on "Land of the Unholy Souls."
