The art of Teodoro Anzellotti has inspired numerous contemporary composers (Toshio Hosokawa, Luciano Berio, and Mauricio Kagel among them) to write for the accordion and discover its unique sound quality as a solo instrument. Anzellotti established the accordion on the classical stage by premiering over 300 compositions written for him. Seventeenth-century composer Johann Jakob Froberger's pieces interwoven in this program of otherwise contemporary music forms a surprisingly unified listening experience.
