About the Author About the Authors Stephen Traphagen is an item writer and reader for AP Biology for the College Board and serves as Vice Chair of the Board of Directors for BSCS Science Learning. He holds a B.S. in Biological Science form the University of Iowa, an M.S. in Biology from DePaul University, and a M.Ed. from the University of Massachusetts-Boston. Julie Minbiole, Ph.D. is a professor at Columbia College in Chicago and has been an AP Biology reader for the College Board. Julie holds a B.S. in Biology and a Ph.D. in Biology from the program in Cellular, Developmental, and Molecular Biology from the University of Illinois in Chicago.   About the Publisher In the 1930s, Manuel H.
