This is a rare advertising handbill (flyer) promoting the two-week, Pre-Broadway engagement of the L. BUSH-FEKETE and MARY HELEN FAY play "EMBEZZLED HEAVEN" at the National Theatre in Washington, D.C. beginning October 2nd, 1944. (The production would open October 31st, 1944 at New York's National Theatre and close after only 52 performances.) ..... The play starred ETHEL BARRYMORE (shown in the cover photo) and featured ALBERT BASSERMAN, SANFORD MEISNER, EDUARD FRANZ and MARTIN BLAINE ..... CREDITS: Book by L. BUSH-FEKETE and MARY HELEN FAY based on a novel by FRANZ WERFEL; Sets designed by STEWART CHANEY; Directed by B. IDEN PAYNE; Produced by THE THEATRE GUILD ..... DETAILS: Advertising handbills (heralds) were distributed or inserted into the playbills of other productions to help generate ticket sales for upcoming shows and events. This single page, two-sided handbill measures 6" X 9" inches and includes promotional text on the backside ..... CONDITION: With the exception of light edge wear, this rare handbill is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any theatre aficionado or historian. This item will be carefully packaged in a protective, carded sleeve and backed by stiff cardboard.
