About 2012 Renwood Amador Ice, Ice Wine, Amador County

Brand Story Situated in picturesque Amador County in northern California, Renwood Winery is surrounded by the rolling hills and rushing streams of California's gold country. Established in 1993, Renwood has become one of the most respected wine producers in the Sierra Foothills, and a Zinfandel specialist. We are committed to sustainable farming, conduct research trials in our vineyards to continually improve our wine’s quality, and employ the use of French and American oak barrels along with other winemaking "tools" that complement the artistry of wine. We invite you to visit our renovated tasting room to enjoy a glass of your favorite Renwood wine (or a flight) paired with a delicious cheese plate, and experience the beauty of the Shenandoah Valley to the fullest. Our paramount goal is to match individual vineyards and specific blocks with our winemaking approach so that we coax the best wine quality based on that site’s flavor profile. We handpick fruit into macro bins from gnarled head-trained vines, some dating to the 19th century. To capture the freshest flavors, we night harvest so that the grapes arrive at a cool temperature to be gently de-stemmed. Our wines are separately fermented in small lots, enabling Winemaker Joe Shebl to create wines with a signature style that emphasizes vibrant, opulent fruit and approachability while underscoring the powerful characteristic of old-vine Amador Zinfandel. We are committed to leading edge grape growing and winemaking methodologies that we share with our neighbors to benefit the entire region. "My approach has always been to let the vineyard do the 'work' and we shepherd the grapes through careful irrigation and canopy management, research and experience, and understanding of how each vineyard block 'speaks.' Fortunately, at Renwood, we've been able to handcraft great wines using this as our constant guide." -Winemaker Joe Shebl
