About The Carolingian Chapel – 30-06-18
The Carolingian Chapel â€" 30-06-18 When I was visiting the Bastei, a new museum at the base of the Valkhof at Nijmegen, Gelderland, Netherlands, my eye caught the Sint-Nicolaaskapel or better known as ‘The Carolingian Chapelâ€. This church was part of a much bigger complex where Charlemagne and the Romans dwelled. I was born and raised in Nijmegen and I know the spot so well and was struck anew by the mystery of eras gone by, lush tree lines and my memory sending me back to childhood.
