Amazon.com Who knew that combining booming Miami bass booty sounds, super cheesey 80s samples and loud Brazilian beats in a deliberately lo-tech manner, with (honestly) poorly shouted off-key rhymes sung atop the whole distorted, chaotic business would provide some of the most amazing dance music of the 00s? Like the best punk rock, this Brazilian dance music clearly aims to be as stupid as possible and just get people moving. But, as with "Mulher Coca Cola" by Ricardo E Esquisito, and De Falla's " Popozuda Rock'n'roll," the result is, often enough, sublimely brilliant. Even the songs that don't really work, such as MC Jack E Chocolate's choppy, opera-sampling "Pavaroty," are worth repeated listens. People are writing their dissertations on this stuff right now, while at the beyond-bump-and-grind-heavy parties this music fuels in Brazil, girls allegedly wake up pregnant a month later without knowing who the father is.
