You can tamp with this funnel inside your portafilter, the tamper base has to be 2.3mm smaller than your portafilter to allow for funnel wall thickness. If your portafilter 51mm diameter, thetamper base diameter is 48.7mm. Coffee Complements site's has all the tamper base size. Stop Wasting Your Coffee! Adapter pilot diameter is held within +/-.002" which is half of 10th (.05mm) of a millimeter For example: 58mm pilot diameter no larger than 58.1mm and no smaller than 57.9mm. This adaptor pilot diameter fit perfect inside your portafilter. You can't tamp when this adaptor in place.. This adapter won't fit under Breville grinder chute. If you have Breville 54mm basket please pick 53.5mm
