They’re also excellent for more direct, focused task lighting, for reading, crafting or puzzles. Sprouting up from a central pole, the 5 heads can be curved at any angle you like. The head height ranges between 9 to 15 inches, one short, two medium and two long. Fully assembled, the Medusa stands up to 74 inches tall. High ceilings a must!! The sturdy weighted base circles nearly a foot in diameter and sits best on wooden floors or area rugs. Placement on carpet not advised. Elegant and trim in a black finish, the Medusa blazes brightly with a total of 4,000 lumens (800per lamp head). You can use the included multi- color or white acrylic shades to match your décor scheme or liven up the space with some color. The bulbs are LED lights, so they stay cool to the touch, won't overheat a room, AND they will use very little energy during their 20-year (or so) lifespan, giving you years of savings. Each bulb draws only 9 watts, for a total of 45 watts, compared to the high usage of heat-producing incandescent bulbs! The lamp is dimmable via the rotary control switch, which changes between only the two tallest heads lit, only the two medium and the shortest head lit, and finally, to all five heads lit. >The Medusa arrives in a securely packaged outer box and a protective inner cardboard layer over the components in Styrofoam and plastic. A page of diagrammed instructions sets you on your way, and everything you need is included in the box. While not difficult, the assembly may take 30 minutes or longer depending on your pace.
