About Marlow White Uniforms 26 Inch US Marine Corps NCO

This sword is from an official government contract issuing swords to USMC units worldwide. It meets all manufacturing specifications outlined in the USMC Specification MIL-S-19206E (MC). The blade is stainless steel with the official USMC acid etch design. The scabbard is a leather-wrapped carbon steel tube with lacquered brass fittings. The grip is leather wrapped and the guard is lacquered brass. This is a ceremonial sword. As such, it is crafted to strict military regulations to be used in drills, ceremonies, and displays. These blade is of the highest quality, but is not sharpened for use as a weapon. Q: What is the difference between this sword and the sword Marlow White sells on it’s website? A: The certification process on the swords is different. Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Troop Support certifies and approves the contract swords such as this one whereas Marine Corps Systems Command (MCSC) certifies the swords sold by vendors such as Marlow White. Each organization’s certification is similar but for different purposes – contract items versus individual items. The contract sword has lacquered brass scabbard fittings and guard where the other Marlow White sword has gold-plated components. The contract sword blade etch does not have a space for a custom engraving such as a name, date, etc. You can still get a custom engraving but it will be closer to the blade tip instead of the guard. Finally, the contract sword does not have a certification number on the blade’s spine as it is not a contract requirement. Q: Is this sword certified to be used by the US Marine Corps? A: Yes, Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Troop Support put these swords through their certification process before awarding the contract. These are the same swords you will find issued to USMC units. Q: Why doesn’t this sword have a certification number? A: The certification process for the contract swords does not require certification numbers.
