Initialed under print on mount – stamped on verso of mount: “Special Edition Photographs of Yosemite….” This print is from the Yosemite Special Edition Series. This is a special inexpensive edition which was created specifically to be sold at Adams’ Yosemite Park Gallery. At first, around 1970, Adams printed these himself and signed them, then he began employing very high quality printers whom he trained to print for him, and to match a master-print, while other times during this period, 1972-73 he would often print them himself. These prints were initialed. Then finally, he turned the printing of the Yosemite Special Edition Prints completely over to his trained printer Alan Ross ( a great photographer in his own right ). These prints are neither signed nor initialed, they just have the large YSE inkstamp on the verso of the mount. The stamp sometime proclaimed that Alan Ross was the printer, but sometimes not. This print is one of the initialed ones so there is the possibility that Adams printed it himself. The prints all have that unmistakable Adams tonal range, and are highly collectable.
