These cup magnets are made for holding purposes. They are made of strong grade 8 ceramic magnets embedded in steel cups. The steel cups close the magnetic circuits on one pole of the magnets so to increase the holding power on the opening side. The steel cups also protect the magnets from breaking when a regular magnet may break easily under impact. Each of these cup magnets provides a 28 pounds of holding power for a direct pull on a 3/4" thick low carbon steel. An inner threaded stud is built into the steel cup for fixture purposes.
