About Fluke 1555 Insulation Resistance Tester 10 KV

The Fluke 1555 10kV digital megohmmeter is a high-voltage insulation resistance tester with six preset test voltages—250V, 500V, 1kV, 2.5kV, 5kV, and 10kV—as well as adjustable test voltages for measuring insulation resistance to 2TΩ to indicate the condition of windings or cables in motors, switchgears, electrical installations, and other insulated equipment. It also measures leakage current to 2 milliamperes (mA), capacitance to 20.00 microfarads, and AC and DC voltage to 660V, sounding a warning indicator when voltage greater than 30V is detected. In addition to the preset test voltages, test voltage can be adjusted in 50V increments up to 1kV and 100V increments above 1kV. It conducts the entire range of test voltages specified in the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 43-2000 standard for recommended practice for testing insulation resistance of rotating machinery. It automatically calculates polarization index (PI) and dielectric absorption (DAR) for a detailed indication of insulation condition. The Fluke 1555 has a digital LCD screen to display measurements and test details, and it provides a bar graph and digital reading of insulation resistance. It stores up to 99 measurements for ease of data recall or transfer to a PC via an infrared port. The unit operates on a rechargeable 12V lead-acid battery, and it has a low-battery indicator that signals when the battery needs to be replaced. The device meets International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) safety standard 61010 and is rated for CAT (category) IV installations to 600V, which covers equipment at the origin of the installation, such as electricity meters and primary over-current protection equipment, and CAT III installations to 1,000V, which covers equipment in fixed installations, such as switches in the fixed installation and some industrial equipment that is permanently connected to the fixed installation. The European Conformity (CE) marking indicates compliance with applicable European Union directives. It comes with a set of three test cables with alligator clips, an AC power cord, a soft carrying case, an infrared adapter with interface cable, FlukeView Forms Basic software on CD-ROM, and instructions. Megohmmeters are commonly used for electrical maintenance and testing in industries such as HVAC, transportation, manufacturing, mining, and utilities, among others.SpecificationsDC test voltageUp to 10,000VPreset test voltages250V, 500V, 1,000V, 2,500V, 5,000V, 10,000VProgrammable test voltages50V steps from 250V to 1,000V; 100V steps from 1,000V to 10,000VBar graph range0 to 1 TΩLeakage currentFrom 1 nA to 2 mA with accuracy of + or - (5 % + 2 nA)Capacitance0.01μF to 20.00μF with accuracy + or - (15 % of the reading + 0.03 μF)Display75 x 105mm (H x W) LCD screenInstallation ratingCAT IV, 600V; CAT III 1,000VStandards metEN safety standard 61010, CE marking, Canadian Standards AssociationIngress protectionIP40Power12V lead-acid rechargeable battery, Yuasa NP2.8-12Dimensions170 x 242 x 330 mm/6.7 x 9.5 x 13 inches (H x W x D)H is height, the vertical distance from the lowest to highest point; W is width, the horizontal distance from left to right; D is depth, the horizontal distance from front to back.Megohmmeters, also called insulation testers, are electrical test meters that measure resistance to the flow of current in an electrical component or circuit and check the continuity of an electrical circuit to detect electrical problems such as degraded insulation and improper circuit connections in equipment, wiring, and power supplies. Resistance is an indicator of the overall condition of the device being tested. Megohmmeters have an internal power supply, such as a battery or a capacitor, which supplies a test voltage to a circuit or component that is turned off. Test leads are connected in a series to the tester and the circuit or device being tested. The meter calculates the difference in voltage between the leads and measures the
