About Dormer A51023/64 ADX Jobber Drill, TiN

The Dormer A510 jobber length, ADX point, is a round shank bit made of HSS with a TiN physical vapor deposition (PVD) coating. ADX point geometry provides efficient cutting action and positional accuracy. This is designed for high productivity, efficient swarf (drilling debris) removal, and accurate holes to H9 tolerance. It is most suitable for use in numerical control (NC) or computer numerical control (CNC) applications where high productivity and accurate holes are essential. It is suitable for drilling to a depth up to four times the diameter of the drill. The shank diameter is the same as the drill size. It is used for drilling holes into a wide variety of materials with best performance in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, copper, aluminum magnesium, and synthetic materials. The A510 series has a faster than standard helix angle for efficient swarf evacuation with a 130-degree, notch thinned with convex cutting edge which offers easier workpiece penetration, improved hole size, and accurate centering when starting the hole. The ADX design has a chip control feature that breaks the swarf into small pieces by increasing the stress on the chip. This enables the swarf to be more easily transported up the flute in a controlled manner. The TiN PVD coating resists flank and crater wear, has low friction and allows for increased cutting speeds. HSS ADX drills can offer the user several times the productivity of uncoated drills. Drilling, or hole making, is the most common metalworking operation in the world. Twist drill bits are the most common type of drill bit used. Twist drill bits are commonly used to drill holes with hand-operated drills, standalone drill presses, or lathes. Dormer Pramet manufactures cutting tools under the following brands: Precision Twist Drill, Dormer, Union Butterfield and Pramet. The company has locations around the world, and provides tools adhering to ANSI, NAS, and DIN standards.
