About Swimming In The Ocean: 52 Devotions On Plunging

Product Description Christians can easily fall into a parody of following Jesus rather than engage in the real thing. The contrast is like swimming in a sterile chlorinated pool verses plunging into the burgeoning life of the ocean. The slices of life in this book include studied observations, stories of victory and failure, scriptural insights, exhortations and bits of hard-earned wisdom from a seasoned ocean swimmer. These devotions are purposed to assist individuals or small groups of Christ-followers in reflecting, discussing, and discovering how to leave the pool and pursue abundant life with God. These devotions will: Serve as a compass to discover where you’re swimming and why Guide your development as an ocean swimmer Stimulate you or your small group toward deeper spiritual waters Renew your passion for the adventure that is following Jesus About the Author After his conversion in 1976 at the Vineyard Christian Fellowship in Los Angeles California, Barry and his wife France were led to plant a church in his home town in Northern Kentucky. While attending seminary in Cincinnati, Ohio, he planted the Vineyard Christian Church of Northern Kentucky in 1988. During his 29 year pastorate, the church grew to over a thousand members. He served on the national Vineyard counsel in the early 90's and helped launch "the Holy Spirit task force" in 2007 to serve Vineyard churches in the Midwest. At the end of 2015, Barry retired from pastoring. Currently he pursues writing, serving on the board of "Reset recovery ministries," and church planting in Zimbabwe, Africa. Pastor Long resides in Northern Kentucky with his wife, three children, and eight grandchildren.
