The lovely green-eyed beauty, considered by many to be the most beautiful woman in the world, was one of Hollywood's most sensuous leading ladies. In her role as Kitty Collins opposite Burt Lancaster in The Killers, a 1946 adaptation of the Ernest Hemingway story, Gardner sizzled on screen and quickly replaced Rita Hayworth as Hollywood's Love Goddess. Nominated for an Academy Award for Mogambo (1953), she also lent her distinctive magnetism to The Snows of Kilamanjaro (1952), On the Beach (1959), and The Night of the Iguana (1964). Gardner was married three times: first to Mickey Rooney, and then to Artie Shaw. Her last husband was Frank Sinatra, whom she divorced in 1957.
