About Almanac Of The Christian Faith: A Prologue Of

W. D. Blake has studied, published and spoken on the history of the Christian message for more than 35 years. In this compendium he highlights defining moments and individual lives in the history of the Christian faith. The contents are arranged to accent every day of the calendar year, spanning the biblical era down to our present time. Each page celebrates key moments within the Judeo-Christian tradition, centered around the lives of men and women who, in seeking Heaven's best for themselves, both lived and rendered the words of God for their own generation. Especially highlighted are the lives and words of prophets, priests, kings, reformers, missionaries, mystics and martyrs; poets, popes, preachers and paupers; hymn writers and composers; doctors, deacons and devotional writers -- ancients and moderns from nearly every branch of Christendom through the past 2000 years. Each page of the book is divided into four major sections celebrating that calendar day of the year: "Highlights in History" (key events), "Notable Birthdays," (celebrated dates of birth), "The Last Passage" (prominent deaths), and "Words for the Soul" (singular quotes from the letters, speeches and sermons, diaries and journals of some of the well-known Christian heroes and heroines through the centuries). There is also a devotional spirit infused throughout the book. Not only are the "Words for the Soul" intended to encourage the faith of the reader, but at the bottom of each page can be found daily references from the Old and New Testaments, the Psalms and the Proverbs -- strategically arranged so that a student of Scripture might be able to read through the entire Bible in one year.
