CHiPs aired for 6 seasons from 1977 to 1983 following the lives of two motorcycle police officers of the California Highway Patrol - Jon Baker and Frank Llewellyn Poncherello, aka "Ponch". CHiPs was an action crime drama with elements of comedy in each episode and over-the-top freeway pileups which were a signature of the show. While Jon and Ponch's black & white Kawasaki motorcycles were the primary "car stars" of the show, CHiPs featured a large supporting cast of multiple Police vehicles.
