About AEMC 8230 PowerPad Jr. 1-Phase Power Quality

The AEMC 8230 Power Pad Jr. single-phase power quality analyzer (also called a power meter) measures and records the power consumption and power quality of single-phase or three-phase balanced low-voltage circuits for installing and maintaining electrical systems. It measures voltage (including crest factor, peak value, and K-factor); energy demand; frequency; power factor; displacement power factor; harmonics and harmonic distortion; phase rotation; and active, reactive, and apparent power; and tracks events such as inrush current, sags and surges, overvoltage, and interruptions. The meter provides measurements in real time and comes with a 1MB (megabyte) SD card for recording readings to track changes in the individual electrical properties of a power system or the overall power quality provided by the system. Measurements can be viewed on the meter's backlit, color LCD, which is readable in low light. All parameters are measured simultaneously, for an overall picture of power quality in the system. The unit comes with two test leads, one red and one black, and alligator clips for taking voltage measurements, and a range of current sensors (sold separately) can be used with the meter to measure current or power. The meter comes with a USB cable for transferring data from the meter to the computer, and the included software provides a graphical user interface for working with data on a computer. The AEMC 8230 Power Pad Jr. is for use in production, research, and electrical testing applications. This true RMS (root mean square) sensing meter provides accurate readings when measuring linear or non-linear loads, where the current or voltage has a sinusoidal or nonsinusoidal waveform. The meter meets European Union (EN) safety standard 61010 and is certified for category III installations up to 600V, which covers items used with enclosed building circuit installations (such as service panel parts, branch circuits, and fixed installations that are connected directly to a building's AC power supply). The unit is powered by six 1.2V NiMH (nickel metal hydride) batteries (included) that can be recharged using the included AC adapter. It comes with a carrying case to protect the meter against bumps and abrasions during transport and storage. For information on accuracy and specific parameter data, see the AEMC 8230 datasheet.. The AEMC 8230 Power Pad Jr. can be purchased with choice of an optional current probe, including: MN93-BK 240-amp clamp-on current probe, MN193-BK 120-amp/6-amp clamp-on current probe, SR193-BK 1200-amp clamp-on current probe, 10" Miniflex MA193-10-BK 1000-amp flexible current probe, and 24" AmpFlex 193-24-BK 6500-amp flexible current sensor. Industrial power meters measure electrical properties such as voltage, current, power, and energy to monitor the efficiency and performance of a power system. They are used for designing, installing, and maintaining industrial, commercial, and residential power supply systems. More advanced models have features for comparing and recording multiple measurements taken at different times and in different areas. AEMC Instruments manufactures electrical testing and measurement instruments, including clamp meters, power quality analyzers, ground resistance testers, and data loggers. The company, founded in 1893, is headquartered in Foxborough, MA.
