4091 Large Poplar box newel posts have a pedestal size of 6-1/4 inch x 6 1/4 inch and an overall length of 55 inches. Pedestal wall is 3/4" with the main shank at 4 3/4 inches net. The 4091 Box Newels are made with lock mitered corners, which means they have no end grains, developing elegance. Poplar is an in stock Half-sawn 4091 box newels are available with an 8 to 10 business day lead time to ship. Box newels are shipped unfinished, ready to stain. Red Oak is an excellent choice for a stain grade newel, or it can accept dark stains to match walnut, mahogany or Brazilian cherry hardwoods. Considering the cost, red oak is the most affordable of the milled hardwoods and one of the easiest to work with.
