About K-Type Thermocouple Wire AWG 24 Stranded Wire

This is a k-type thermocouple wire with yellow PVC vinyl insulation, which is good up to about 105 C or 221 F. This k-type thermocouple wire can be used to make your own thermocouples for a wide range of applications, or to make your own extension wire. The chromel alumel wire is made to standard thermocouple specifications. This is a stranded wire with 7 filaments, it is more flexible than a solid wire and therefore especially useful for k-type extension wires. It is sold in 10 yd roll, so if you order 2 units of this, you will receive 2 rolls each 10 yard long wire. This thermocouple wire is now available in longer spools of 50 yd, 110 yard and 220 yard. This K-type thermocouple wire can be used to make extension or hook up wire for the full K-type temperature range. It can transmit the thermocouple signal from -320 to +2500 degree Fahrenheit or -210 to +1370 degree Celsius. The limiting factor is the PVC insulation, which starts to soften and melt at about 220 °F or 105 °C. A typical use for this K-type thermocouple wire is in very hot ovens or kilns. You would install a high temperature K-type thermocouple with a fiberglass or ceramic insulation or a stainless steel K-type sensor inside the oven and run the high temperature insulated probe wire to a colder spot at the outside of the oven. There you use a miniature K-type thermocouple connector to connect it to this PVC insulated wire and run this extension wire to the K-type thermometer unit or PID temperature controller. This is a stranded K-type thermocouple wire. Each of the two sensor conductors is made from 7 individual metal wires. Each individual wire is 0.2 mm (8 mil) and the total diameter if the conductor is 0.5 mm (20 mil). Stranded thermocouple wires are more flexible and resistant to bending or breaking. They are also ideal if you pull a longer run of k-type thermocouple wire through a conduit.
