About Pavillon D'Armide/Amarant

This release collects together Scanner s two Classical / Electronica scores for ballets created by Canadian choreographer Matjash Mrozewski, for Les Ballets de Monte Carlo (2009) and Royal Ballet of Flanders (2011). Both are richly orchestrated works, using baroque themes inspired by ideas and harmonies of composers Mendelssohn and Handel, using electronics, strings and voices. The Observer newspaper wrote A resonant and mysterious score, romantic, corrupted grandeur, moving from strident grand allegro to dreamy adagio, narcotic and gorgeous. Active since 1991 Robin Rimbaud known as Scanner - has been intensively active in sound art, pro-ducing concerts, installations and recordings. He has remixed and collaborated with a wealth of artists across the arts, from Laurie Anderson, Bryan Ferry, Carsten Nicolai, Dangermouse, Michael Nyman, Luc Ferrari, and Mike Kelley amongst many others. In 2007 he wrote the hit musical Kirikou in France and in 2008 designed the Wake Up Light with Phil-ips. Last year Scanner released his critically acclaimed Blink Of An Eye album with Matthew Shipp, scored several movies and more recently sound designed campaigns for Nike and the Rugby World Cup. He is currently Visiting Professor at Le Fresnoy art school in France whilst acting a Musical Director on a major new project on Joy Division to be launched in 2012 at De La Warr Pavilion UK.
