Goldfish is a nostalgic and sentimental subject. For most people, it would be their very first pet of their childhood. A calm and elegantly swimming goldfish looks like it is in another world, free of care and always at peace. It is illuminating to examine/appreciate goldfish for the liquidity of their changing colors and shapes. I appreciate the subjects as hallucinatory sensations, beyond simplicity, and hope I could convey those feelings through my work. Oil is the best medium to create the lustrous texture of fish and I love its rich and versatile character. To maximize the brightness/saturation of color and very smooth and glossy finished surface, I employ many hours of intense work for preparing the canvas which usually takes 2 weeks before applying paint.
