The Green Rose Chafer Beetle is a small iridescent insect found primarily in southern and central Europe. They can be spotted flitting amongst the roses on warm, sunny days from May until July, and sometimes all the way up to September. They feed off of pollen, nectar, and flowers, but they primarily prefer roses. In shape it resembles a scarab, while its body is colored by a metallic green which changes shades depending upon how the light interacts with it. Since Green Rose Chafers are found almost exclusively in Europe, not everyone gets a chance to see them. But now you can get a real one already prepared for you to examine! Students and teachers needn't worry, this beetle won't fly off! This is a great specimen of a REAL green rose chafer beetle spreading its wings as if about to take flight mounted in a small clear acrylic block.
