The three McGUIRE SISTERS Christine, Dorothy and Phyllis were born in Middletown (Ohio). They started by singing in a church choir. However, by 1949, they were singing at military bases and hospitals, too. They soon expanded their repertoire to include Pop standards of the time. In 1952, they appeared on Arthur Godfrey s show, and as a result, he hired them for his morning show, where they remained for seven years. In 1954, their first single came into the Pop charts. GOODNIGHT, SWEETHEART, GOODNIGHT achieved position #7, followed by IT MAY SOUND SILLY (#11) and their Single HE (#10). At the end of the same year, they released their greatest hit SINCERELY which was catapulted to the top of the Billboard Pop charts. They celebrated their second #1 hit with SUGARTIME in 1957.
