How the Pregnancy Test Works When you are pregnant your body produces the pregnancy hormone hCG (human Chorionic Gonadotrophin). The amount of hCG in your body increases in the early stages of pregnancy. The Clearblue Pregnancy Test +/- Results detects the pregnancy hormone in your urine and is over 99% accurate when used from the day of your expected period.1 Testing Directions Clearblue recommends that you test from the day you expect your period. However, the amount of pregnancy hormone increases rapidly in early pregnancy and Clearblue Pregnancy Test +/- Results can be used as early as 4 days before your expected period. That’s 5 days sooner than waiting until you miss your period to test. If you test before your expected period and get a ‘Not Pregnant’ result, there is still a chance that you may be pregnant and you should test again when you expect your period. The levels of pregnancy hormone in your urine may not be high enough yet to be detected.2 Follow these easy steps: Remove the test from its wrapper. Hold the Color Change Tip downward in your urine stream for 5 seconds. The Color Change Tip will quickly turn pink to indicate it’s absorbing urine. A blue line in the Control Window lets you know the test has worked. After 2 minutes, read your result. A + result means you’re Pregnant. A – result means you’re Not Pregnant.
