DESCRIPTIONS

This publication is aimed to assist the Catholic faithful in praying the traditional Benedictine Divine Office. <br />The Monastic Diurnal, which omits the prayers of Matins, is intended to be used by those who wish to unite their prayers with the Benedictine community but are not able to say all the hours.<br />The Monastic Office has proved popular among the laity, to whom this publication is addressed. In recent times there has been a growth in the number of Benedictine Oblates, the laity associated with a Benedictine monastery, and many other of the laity who prefer this Office. <br />Every effort has been made to make this electronic version of the Monastic Diurnal easy to use with complex linking of the Hours to the Propers and Hymns of the day.<br />There is no Common of the Saints, because the text of each Common has been included in the whole Proper for each particular Saint or for each particular Feast.<br />The Rule of St Benedict is included, as well as the Little Office of the Blessed Virgin Mary.<br />
