BLACK-MAX Hand Hole gaskets seal with zero leakage in steam and in cold-water hydro tests. BLACK-MAX withstands working steam temperatures up to 1,200°F. Rubber gaskets can’t withstand that kind of pressure and heat.

Rough and pitted surfaces on old or poorly maintained flanges pose no problem for BLACK-MAX gaskets: the material is resilient enough to conform perfectly to the surface topography and maintain the tightest seal.
The proprietary graphite used to manufacture BLACK-MAX is chemically inert (pH 0 -14) and resistant to chemicals used in treating boiler water.
