DESCRIPTIONS

Man was created to be united with God, to become god by Grace. This is salvation. This is theosis. God’s Divine Economy aims for the salvation of man. This salvific truth is found only in Orthodoxy and Orthodoxy alone shows the true path to theosis, which is Hesychasm. The truth and the way were revealed to man by God, through His incarnation and through the revelation of the Holy Spirit to those found worthy of it. These people are the Prophets in the Old Testament, and the Apostles and the Fathers of the Church in the New Testament. Saint Athanasios the Great clearly stated that the salvation of man is achieved because God became man so man can become god by Grace. The Orthodox don’t only believe in the True God, but they also know God. The Orthodox know God because they can experience God, by “seeing” Him (theoptia) and by “gaining knowledge” of Him (theognosia), when they reach theosis, even from this present life. This comprehensive book aims to introduce the Orthodox way to salvation to the neophytes, who are presently flocking to the spring of Orthodoxy which is gushing living water (the Grace of the Holy Spirit), and to those born Orthodox who take salvation for granted!
