About NV Gruet Blanc De Noirs, Methode Champenoise

Brand Story Founded in 1983 Gruet Winery specializes in Methode Champenoise sparkling wines. Family owned and family run, the Albuquerque, New Mexico-based winery produces Pinot Noir and Chardonnay based sparkling wines with knowledge originating from late patriarch and founder Gilbert Gruet’s Champagne house, Gruet et Fils, established in Bethon, France in 1952. Stateside, 2014 marked the 25th anniversary of Gruet Winery’s first release! How does a French winemaking family find itself celebrating a quarter century making world-class sparkling wine in the New Mexico desert? It started with Gilbert’s dream – expanding the reach of fine quality Champagne beyond European boundaries – which led him to the new world. The Gruet family’s hard work and dedication over a quarter of a century exemplifies that nothing is impossible – underscored by their journey from a small village in Champagne to the desert of New Mexico. Today, Gruet produces 1.5 million bottles annually, and has established itself as one of the largest method champenoise houses in the United States. "My goal is to make sparkling wines in America that honor the winemaking traditions of the Old World. Meticulous attention to detail, from vine to bottle, and never deviating from the Methode Champenoise style are engrained in our legacy." -WINEMAKER LAURENT GRUET
