The nominal working volume of these cells is as little as 20 percent of that for standard cells of the same path length. Required volume of the Semi-Micro cells of 0.9 mL can be reduced by elevating the cell so long as the light beam does not strike the walls of the cell. If beam width of spectrophotometer approaches 4 mm, a suitable self-masking cell should be used.
