Lightweight throwing hatchet patterned after our award winning competition throwing axe (ASIN B00A2WHL94 - only the cheek is thinner). This custom design is popular among boy scouts. Ideal for throwers 13 years & older. * Balanced for throwing - Head weight, handle length, and design are calculated to complete 1 revolution between 5-7 steps from your target. * High Carbon Steel - We've focused our forge on EN49 high carbon steel which is soft enough to take sharpening yet hard enough to hold an edge without becoming brittle. Like a cast iron skillet, our hatchets are super reliable but require attention to prevent rust - a light oil coating. * Oil Tempered blade edge - Our blacksmiths harden the metal blade edge so that the edge stays sharp for longer. * Overall Length - 19 inches. * Blade Edge - Most hatchet throwing competitions require a maximum blade edge of 4 inches. This model is 3.75 inches which provides plenty of surface area to stick to your target consistently. * American Hickory Handle - Each handle is made in the USA from premium A grade straight grain American Hickory. All handles sanded smooth then coated in a light wax for secure grip and protection. * Throwing Hatchet Uses - These throwing hatchets are used worldwide in competitive leagues or backyard battles with friends. They're great when sharpened as a camping hatchet for both utility and recreation. * Overall Weight - Each hatchet head is 0.9 lbs.
