About the Author Jürgen Gottschlich is a German journalist and author. He founded the daily newspaper 'taz' in 1979. Latterly, he became editor-in-chief of the Wochenpost in 1994, and went on to work as the Istanbul-based correspondent of various newspapers. He has also written two books on Turkey and its relationship with modern Europe.
